WORLD WATER BIRTH WEEK

June 22–26, 2026

Celebrating • Educating • Advocating

Waterbirth International is honored to introduce the first-ever World Water Birth Week! This new global initiative dedicated to celebrating, educating, and advocating for safe, respectful, evidence-based waterbirth care around the world.

Throughout the week, we will highlight birth care professionals, educators, facilities, and families who support gentle birth practices and informed choice in maternity care.

Since this is new for us we are keeping it grassroots and community-focused. It is an opportunity to begin building awareness together and strengthen global connection within the waterbirth community.

World Waterbirth day

As part of World Waterbirth Week, June 25 has been designated as World Waterbirth Day by Waterbirth Canada.

The date was chosen in honor of Barbara Harper’s birthday and recognizes her decades of education, advocacy, mentorship, and global leadership in advancing waterbirth awareness around the world.

To celebrate this special day, Waterbirth Canada is inviting the international waterbirth community to share photos, memories, and reflections featuring Barbara Harper from conferences, workshops, trainings, hospital visits, and meaningful moments throughout the years.

Participants are encouraged to include where the photo was taken, the year if remembered, and a short message or memory. These submissions will help create a special community collage honoring Barbara Harper’s incredible legacy and lifelong contributions to gentle birth advocacy.

@WaterbirthCanada will also lead special awareness efforts and shared messaging throughout World Waterbirth Day as part of the broader week-long celebration.

We encourage our global community to support and share their campaign as we continue celebrating, educating, and advocating together.
